One of Richard Osman’s most popular novels from his ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ series was adapted into an OTT film with one of the strongest cast ensembles. However, despite the strong acting talent on screen, the film did not meet the expectations of Osman’s fans. Also, the author himself has had trouble coming to terms with the film’s performance. In a recent interview, he shared his thoughts on the movie and how he would like to be more hands-on with the next film.

While talking to The Times, the author revealed that he understands the disappointment behind the film adaptation of his book. However, he added, “I can’t really talk about the film very much.” Further on, he commented that he is glad that it was only one of his books and that “the other books I would like to adapt myself.”He, however, did mention that there were some good aspects with the film and that he loved meeting the team, saying it was “a lot of fun meeting [producer Steven] Spielberg, Helen, Pierce, and everyone else.” Really cool.”The OTT film had raised a lot of expectations after the cast was announced, including veteran legends like Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie. However, the film and the plot did not sit well with the audience. Many pointed out at the time of its release last year that the film’s main plot had deviated a lot from the source, Osman’s books.From removing many popular and loved characters from the book to completely changing the storyline of Polish handyman Bogdan’s (played by Henry Lloyd-Hughes) character, many people called it out for not being authentic to the writing and the essence of the stories. Chris Columbus directed the film, while it was written by comedian Katy Brand and screenwriter Suzanne Heathcote.
